The Ultimate Lasagna

Nothing can match the warmth and satisfaction of a homemade lasagna! The way that the stringy cheeses and mouth watering tomato sauce all comes together when you lift up that first piece. My dad is a lasagna connoisseur and this recipe made him go for seconds! Serve this with a side of iceberg salad!

Ingredients:

-About 15 lasagna sheets

-½ lbs. of ground beef, cooked and lightly seasoned

-1 jar of marinara sauce (about 3 cups)

-1 cup of ricotta cheese

-3 cups of thick shredded mozzarella cheese

-5 tbs. of oregano

-Fresh basil and thyme

-2 tbs. of avocado oil

-1 tbs. of flakey salt

-3 tbs. of olive oil

-1 tbs. of truffle oil (to finish)

Steps:

Step #1: In a large pot, bring water to a boil and add the salt and noodles. Cook according to the box and drain the pasta water. Lightly grease the sheets to prevent sticking with avocado oil.

Step #2: As the lasagna sheets are cooling, prepare the other ingredients. Add the ground beef into the tomato sauce along with 3 tbs. of dried oregano and mix.

Step #3: Now for the ricotta, add fresh thyme, roughly chopped basil, olive oil, and the remaining oregano and mix. If needed, also thickly shred the mozzarella cheese.

Step #4: To begin assembling the lasagna, grease the tray with olive or avocado oil. Although there may be some dispute, I found that starting out with the noodles gave me a more formed lasagna slice. Begin by layering noodles along the base of the tray.

Step #5: Add the meat sauce and spread evenly along the lasagna sheets. After, generously add the mozzarella cheese and about six spoonful’s of ricotta spread out evenly. Add another layer of noodles and repeat until you have reached the top.

Step #6: After the final layer of cheeses, drizzle the truffle oil on the top. Cover with tin foil and leave to rest in the fridge for up to a day. If planning to cook immediately, preheat the oven to 400 degrees and cook with the foil for about 20 minutes. After the 20 minutes has passed, remove the foil and change the settings to a high broil. Watch carefully and take out when a golden brown has been achieved.

Step #7: Take out of the oven and leave to rest for at least 15 minutes, if you or your guest can resist! Serve with salad. Enjoy 💙
